Avril est le mois de lutte contre le paludisme!

So, as we all know malaria is serious business in Africa. In Burkina Faso more people die from malaria than AIDS and I know that in my village it affects everyone. Since I've been at site, my counterpart has gotten malaria several times. Medication is available but it's expensive and not 100% effective, especially for kids and pregnant women. The good news is that malaria can be prevented by taking simple steps like sleeping under a mosquito net or using a homemade cream made from Neem trees which repels mosquitos. In April we're trying to educate and motivate people to fight against malaria!

I painted this mural for a family but it's outside of their courtyard so the whole village can see it. It won't save the village from malaria but it sure is purdy!
